3 Hours Before Flight Time
Meet and greet at the airport after passport control and customs. Panoramic sightseeing of Belgrade by bus. Belgrade is the capital of Serbia, located at the confluence of Sava and Danube rivers, with 2000 years long history. During the tour you will see the largest Orthodox Church in the Balkans – St. Sava Temple, National Assembly, City Hall, Republic Square, Knez Mihailova pedestrian street and magnificent Belgrade Fortress. Optional lunch in the city center. Transfer to hotel and check in. Overnight in Belgrade.
Breakfast. Departure to Vojvodina region. Our first stop is Sremski Karlovci, small historical town known for its baroque architecture and wine production. Most important building in Sremski Karlovci, The Chapel of Peace, commemorates the signing of the Treaty of Karlowitz, that brought peace between the Turks and the Austrians. Wine cellar visit with wine tasting included. The tour will continue toward the city of Novi Sad and Petrovaradin fortress, the second largest fortress in Europe. Lunch in local restaurant. Panoramic and walking tour of Novi Sad (Freedom Square, National Theater, Danube Street, etc.) Return to Belgrade in the afternoon hours. Overnight in Belgrade.
Breakfast. Departure to Avala mountain and visit of the famous Avala Tower – 204 m tall, originally finished in 1965., destroyed in 1999. during the NATO bombing of Serbia, and again rebuilt and opened in 2006. Tour continues to the Museum and monumental tomb of the founder of Socialistic Federative Republic of Yugoslavia – Marshal Tito. He was elected president of Yugoslavia after the Second World War and stayed on that function till his death in 1980. After the museum, the tour continues to the new part of the city known as New Belgrade. Lunch in local restaurant. Walking tour of Zemun (Austro-Hungarian era mansions, bazaars, Pub street, old Theatre and Zemun park.) Return to hotel. Overnight in Belgrade.
Breakfast. Drive to the very heart of Serbia, well known as Sumadija, with beautiful hilly landscapes. Learn about “Rebellious Serbia” and its path of establishing modern state while visiting Oplenac, The Mausoleum of The Serbian Royal Dynasty of Karadjordjevic. Besides King’s Peter House, we will visit one of the most beautiful churches – museums in Serbia, Church of St. George, decorated entirely with spectacular mosaics and replicas of most beautiful frescoes of the medieval Serbian art. Breakfast. Departure to Stopica cave on the slopes of Zlatibor, famous for its amazing winter pools, some of them are even 7 meters deep. Visit to Sirogojno ethno village with its open-air museum Old village, which consists of authentic Serbian wooden houses from 18th century. Optional lunch in Sirogojno. Return to Zlatibor Mountain. Breakfast. Tour continue to Mokra Gora. Train panoramic drive on a narrow gauge railway called Sargan Eight (route viewed from the sky, looks like the number 8) will be followed by sightseeing tour of ethno village Drvengrad (wooden town), built by the famous Serbian film director Emir Kusturica. Tour continue to Visegrad, the UNESCO site, where you can see a world-famous bridge on Drina River. Ivo Andric the famous writer and the only Serb who received a Noble prize, wrote a book about it. Nearby Andricgrad, another project of Emir Kusturica, is our next stop. Andricgrad represents attempt to reconstruct Visegrad through the centuries. Its architecture is a mix of the different styles that dominated throughout Visegrad history, the Byzantine style, the Ottoman period, the Renaissance and Classicism. The capital of Bosna and Herzegovina was founded in the 15th century and is famous for its traditional cultural and religious diversity, with adherents of Islam, Orthodoxy, Catholicism and Judaism coexisting there for centuries, and due to this it was sometimes called the “Jerusalem of the Balkans”. Optional lunch at restaurant in Sarajevo. Optional tour to “Tunnel of hope” and Vrelo Bosne Nature Park. This tunnel was built as a lifeline to Sarajevo during its 1992-1996 besiegement in the Bosnian War. Breakfast. Departure to Mostar. On the road, break will be done along the way in Jablanica, historical spot famous for WWII battle. Arrival to Mostar, historical, political, scientific and cultural center of Herzegovina lies at the foot of the slopes of Velez Mountain, in the Neretva River valley. Mostar is the city of contrasts, wide roads, narrow streets, the traditional Kujundziluk (old bazaar) and a contemporary center. Next to modernly built edifices there rise the towers of churches and the minarets of mosques. The most magnificent stone monument is the Stari Most (Old Bridge), built in 1566 according to the plans of Hayruddin, the great Turkish builder of the 16th c. it has a large stone arch and has been entered on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Breakfast.Transfer To Dubrovnik (location under the protection of the UNESCO) is one of the most significant monument in the world. City’s old town is known since 7th century. For centuries it had the status of a city republic all till Napoleon came here in 1806. The old town is surrounded with a wall that is 2 km long that give a great opportunity to see whole old Dubrovnik from one point: city churches, fortification and monuments are a real must-see. Breakfast. Transfer to Zadar. Most famous for its Old Town, set in a peninsula that is completely suitable for walking tours through romantic narrow typically Mediterranean streets. The town has numerous Roman and sights such as ruins of Antique Roman Forum square that is situated beneath and around St. Donatus church. St. Donatus Church is the main city attractions that was mentioned for the first time by the Constantine Porphyrogenitus in his description of Dalmatia in 949. It has been dedicated to the Holy Trinity and nowadays carries the name of bishop Donatus who ordered the construction of the church. Optional lunch in Zadar. Free time and optional dinner in Zadar. UNESCO World Heritage status was given to the National Park Plitvice Lakes that are located halfway between Zagreb and Zadar, in 1979.
